A cop on a mission. A woman running from her fate. Both on a collision course with evil. In the pulse-pounding sequel to BAD WOLF, the nightmare that ripped open two lives slips from the darkness to once again stalk the streets of Portland. Three months after his partner mysteriously vanished, detective John Gallagher remains haunted by his encounter with something that should not exist. With no clues as to his partner's disappearance, detective Lara Mendes is presumed dead but Gallagher refuses to give up the search. Like a man possessed, he pushes himself to the brink to find her. At a downtown firing range, 17-year old Amy Gallagher is taught how to fire a gun by her father. She goes along for his sake but Amy is increasingly troubled by her father's instability. His nightmares, paranoia and obsession with finding his missing partner are clear signs of post traumatic stress but her pleas for him to seek help fall on deaf ears. Chafing under his strict rules, Amy struggles to save her dad before he pushes himself over the edge. Two hundred miles away, a woman with a terrible secret hides in the vastness of the Oregon wilderness, desperate to outrun her fate. Banished into self-imposed exile with a worsening condition, ex-detective Lara Mendes has exhausted any hope for a cure to her cursed existence. With no options left, her last chance at peace may be to take her own life. Stalking her through the pines is a primordial nightmare plucked straight from a Grimm's fairytale. It wants Lara Mendes and will stop at nothing to get her. The only question that remains is who will get to her first, and what will Lara do when they come?

Not happy with this twist. As I don't read reviews that tell me the whole story, I prefer just an opinion. I try to do the same. I really was enjoying this series until my favorite character bit it. ( Pun intended ). I thought this was one of the better werewolf stories I had read. The writer lost me after that. While the other characters are good, it seemed the other was the glue holding everything together. I found I didn't care enough about the other characters to buy the third book.Product details

Pale Wolf Bad Wolf Chronicles Volume 2 Tim McGregor 9781484946992 Books Reviews
I Loved book#1 of the series and hoped for a happy ending for Amy and her family.Sadly, although not what I was looking for,the ending was a fitting tear jerker.I will absolutely recommend the books to all readers. I find them to be very moving! Looking forward to book three LAST WOLF. Mr McGregor has another fan and I will definitely tell all my friends to add him to their lists of authors to look for when choosing a good book to read. ENJOY!
This series has interesting characters and storylines. I like that it doesn't rely on romance / sex scenes to carry it. The werewolves are quite frightening, yet it is possible to have sympathy for (some) of them.
I didn't like the overuse of certain words "marched", "sklathered"... The thesaurus is our friend. 😉 But hey, not that I've written any books, so what do I know?!
As in Book 1, I wanted to give this 4 stars. I enjoyed the story - until the end. *** Perhaps, Spoiler Alert***** But, an author just can't just take characters, give them life and create a bond with the reader and write a dismal ending. At 1st I was shocked, then teary eyed, than pissed off and finally I found myself searching through for Book 3. I will say that the author handled this story in a different and creative way. I will say that knowing what I do - I would read the books anyway. I will say that I recommend it if you don't mind buying all 3 books - and don't mind nudging the author to GET BK 3 OUT HERE!.
actually i think i liked the second book even better than the first book. both are very enjoyable, well written, page turning, stories that take you where you think it's going, and then make a sharp left or right. gotta love that!
i loved the closeness of the teen, amy, to her dad, the policeman who skirts the law just a little, at times, because he wants so much to solve his cases. the characters are so well written, they seem like they could be neighbors. and the story was tense, but in a fun way. i only wish there was a 3rd book available now, i'd buy it in an instant.
hope this is a movie- there is a lot of good material here! highly recommended, if you love a good paranormal story, with a good family at its core.
I did enjoy this story filled with drama and heart pounding action . . . however, I was terribly disappointed in the ending. Is there going to be a Book 3 in the Bad Wolf Chronicles? If so then this poor, unsatisfying ending can be forgiven. If not, then we are left with "what happened to the body?" (there were several mentions that John's body was never found) and how do Lara and Amy deal with the loss? It took away from the entire storyline build up and decreased the impact of the plot. If Book 3 is in the works then I will definitely give this series another chance. Tim McGregor is a great storyteller and has the ability to put you right in the middle of the action. I would suggest that he give it a once over because there were a few editing issues that could have been fixed but it did not stop or slow the flow of the read.

When I started Bad Wolf, the first in this two book series, I knew I was in for a wild ride. The story is harsh, violent, thrilling and yet moments of tenderness. As an animal lover I cringed and had to remind myself that it is just a story at times. Although dog fighting is real and horrific and the people involved are despicable. However, the characters kept me reading while cringing at some of the descriptions of violence. The relationship between all of the characters is compelling and touching on so many levels. If you are a Twilight fan stay far away from these books. These are not lovey dovey werewolves who want to protect you. However, if you enjoy a thriller/murder mystery with paranormal aspects then these two books, Bad Wolf and Pale Wolf are for you.
The book is well written but I subtracted a star due to some problems with the editing. Misspelled words and the overuse of some words, like roiling or sklathed. There were also some awkwardly structured sentences as well.
I had no issues with the story itself however. It moved along at a brisk pace without getting bogged down in the police procedural stuff like the first book sometimes did. In that regard it's better than the first book in the trilogy. Another reviewer had issues with the ending. I did not and it was telligraphed early on in the book when Gallagher said he would kill himself if he'd been bitten. But it's interesting that they said his body was never found, not surprising considering how he died. It seems to me they should have been able to find something to bury, however. There will likely be a third book so don't be surprised if he survived after all.
Not happy with this twist. As I don't read reviews that tell me the whole story, I prefer just an opinion. I try to do the same. I really was enjoying this series until my favorite character bit it. ( Pun intended ). I thought this was one of the better werewolf stories I had read. The writer lost me after that.
